Details

The Mananava Trail takes its name from the old name of the gorges between Brise Fer and Morne Sec - it is a Malagasy name which indicates the past presence of Malagasy people, probably the earliest inhabitants of the Black River Gorges. Starting at the Black River parking, two circuits up to the plateau and back down.

At the driest time of the year, a good end-of-year trail in a shaded, forest area.

Within the reach of all trailers, take it slowly or fast, always a magnificent circuit in a National park

A lovely forest 100% nature trail, starting with a 2.5 km flattish stretch, leading to Parakeet - a steep 3km climb leading to the high Plaine Champagne plateau. Then a rolling 11 km forest and 4x4 track which joins the short trail route, and down Zepol and Fil in technical, steep drops, leading to the valley, where you will discover the last 1.5 km of new path leading back to the start.  A challenge for some, but the classic Gorges training circuit for most - not a long trail and much is covered in cool forest.

A challenging forest trail, starting with a climb up Parakeet, then along the high plateau Pailles-en-Queue and Les Mares, then down the tracks along to Macchabe kiosk and Zepol, Fil & Chemin la Boue, to the start.

Parking, Parakeet, Pailles-en-Queue, Les Mares, Camphriers, Macchabe kiosk, Zepol, Fil, Chemin la Boue
